ORO Y PLATA

ENVIRONMENT
18 Wheels of Steel Legacy
It's time to take a trip down memory lane! Back in August of 2002, we developed the simulator title "18 Wheels of Steel". Many of our trucking veterans may even remember playing this game when it first released. One of the locations you could go trucking to in one of the sequels (Extreme Trucker 2) was the U.S state of Montana, which happens to be also one of the current map expansions we are working on for American Truck Simulator.
With this sort of history, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to revisit some of these iconic areas in our upcoming DLC.
ENVIRONMENT
Border Summit Pass
Towering high above the U.S state borders of Montana and Idaho is the Bitterroot Range; a subrange of the northern Rocky Mountains. As Montana's largest mountain range, it spans a whopping 24,223 square miles along the border, and with that much mountain, travelers will need to pass through somewhere!
ENVIRONMENT
Water Bodies
Imagine a world in which you are driving through a vast and colorful nature of a state, you look out of the window, and you see only fields and forests. While it depends on the situation, in general, this sounds pretty dull, right?
Thankfully, the wonderful Montana DLC and its environment will offer plenty of variety due to the water bodies, such as rivers, lakes, and dams.

INDUSTRY
Agriculture
Montana enjoys a rich agricultural heritage. Ranching and farming has always been an important part of the State's economy, with livestock and crop production contributing close to two billion dollars to Montana's economy every year! So as you can imagine, truckers play a very important part in this industry.
INDUSTRY
New Industries
While Montana’s national parks, vast forests, and untamed wilderness areas are some of the finest offerings of the local nature, proper truckers have to remember the reason for their journey whilst admiring the scenery. We are delighted to share with you screenshots of several depots and information about the new industries arriving in the upcoming Montana DLC for American Truck Simulator.
INDUSTRY
Forestry
With every new map expansion, we are edging closer to realizing complete production chains in the game's economy. While we are not quite there yet, but important pieces fall into place bit by bit. In the upcoming Montana DLC for ATS, apart from being able to admire the wonderful local scenery, you will also be able to haul to and from several key points that are part of the forestry process!
INDUSTRY
Mining Industry
Among other industries featured in the Montana DLC, there is only one with state-defining historical importance. So, without further ado, let's dig into what the Mining Industry will have to offer in the upcoming map expansion.
There’s a good reason why Montana has the nickname The Treasure State and why the front and center of the state flag are a miner’s shovel and pick, with the state motto "Oro Y Plata", which means "Gold and Silver" in Spanish.

CITIES
Cities & Settlements
Are you ready to explore the Treasure State? From majestic mountains to crystal clear lakes, Montana will take your breath away with its unspoiled, natural beauty. While deer, antelope, and elk outnumber people here, truckers will discover plenty of gems whilst delivering to the many cities & settlements located across the State. Let's take a closer look, shall we?
CITIES
Great Falls
Located on the Missouri River in the heart of Montana, you'll find the city of Great Falls. As the third largest city in the state, this city offers visitors a haven of culture, history and natural beauty. Named after one of the five waterfalls in the area, we are excited to bring this city to life in our upcoming Montana DLC.
CITIES
Butte & Port of Montana
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, is the historic mining city of Butte. Previously nicknamed as 'The Richest Hill on Earth', this city once was thriving with industrial activity in the 1800's because of its abundance of mineral wealth.
The Port of Montana is an industrial transload, distribution and warehousing facility with easy rail and highway access to directly benefit businesses throughout the region. It also include a unique Silene Gas Factory, which has been created according to a 1:1 reference!

ROAD NETWORK
Truck Stops
While Montana is home to marvelous nature and interesting history, it also features numerous practical facilities which are extremely important for the truckers themselves. So, whether you will just need to quickly refill gas, or the time to take a break has arrived, truck stops will provide you with both.
We’ll present to you the gas stations and rest stops featured in the upcoming Montana DLC for American Truck Simulator.
