Q: I just bought the digital edition of American Truck Simulator online. When will I receive my product code to unlock the full version of the game?

A: If you paid with your credit card or through PayPal, your product key should be sent immediately in an e-mail message to your e-mail. If the message does not arrive within an hour, please check your spam folder and make sure you have provided the correct e-mail address during purchase process. Additionally, verify that the transaction has been completed successfully and your account has a sufficient balance.
Purchases made using a bank transfer usually take some time to be processed – this can take around 3 to 5 business days. You will receive a confirmation email with your product key once your funds are processed by our payment partner. If your payment is taking too long to process or you have any concerns regarding your purchase, please contact our payment processor FastSpring for further assistance.

Q: How can I activate my copy of American Truck Simulator?

A: American Truck Simulator requires a free Steam client. If you haven't done it already, you will need to create a new Steam account. After registering, please open the Steam client, and click on Games -> Activate a Product on Steam... in the top left corner. After a new window opens, simply enter your product key to add the full version of the game to your Steam Library. A step by step guide for this process can be found here.

Q: How many times can I re-install the game using the same product key?

A: The product key can only be used once – it is used up after the game is activated on Steam and the ownership of the game license is tied to your Steam account since them. You can take advantage of Steam's Family Sharing feature to share the game with the members of your household, You can also easily switch between several computers in your ownership to have the game installed on all of them, so long as you are also logging in to the same Steam account on all of them.

Q: My game has failed to activate, what should I do?

A: Please ensure that you didn't make any typo when entering the key. If the key doesn't work, contact the seller.

Q: I am using Linux or Mac OS X. Can I play the game on my system?

A: Yes! Linux and Mac OS X versions of American Truck Simulator are available through the Steam platform.

Q: The game fails to start or the visuals are corrupted. What can I do?

A: First of all, please update your video card drivers. If it still doesn't help, open the Steam Library, find American Truck Simulator, press Launch and try running OpenGL and DirectX options in turn. You may also try the "Safe mode" option as the last resort, which will reset the graphics settings in-game to minimum. Then, if the game launches successfully, you can adjust the video settings manually through "Advanced settings" to what you believe is a safe setup. If none of these options work, the sad conclusion is that your computer is simply unable to support the game. Please, check that your PC meets the minimum system requirements and in case you pass, try sending us a bug report (see below).

Q: I have a high performance notebook, but American Truck Simulator runs poorly on it. Why is that?

A: Chances are that your notebook features two video chips. Vendors often pair integrated Intel chipsets with more powerful Nvidia or AMD chipsets in order to save battery power when running less graphics-demanding applications. Older graphics drivers may use the low performance video option by default when running the game. You can open the control panel of the more powerful video card (Nvidia Settings or AMD Control Center) and explicitly request its use for American Truck Simulator (in "Manage 3D Settings"). Alternatively, you may attempt to update the video drivers altogether; recent drivers should recognize American Truck Simulator and use the more powerful graphics chip automatically.

Q: The game crashes, stutters or hinders my progress; what should I do?

A: Please contact our support team if you are experiencing in game issues. Don't forget to precisely describe your issue. Please also open open your \Documents\American Truck Simulator\ folder and attach game.log.txt and game.crash.txt files to your message, as well as compressed "profile" folder if possible.
